Kerr û Kulik

The epic of two brothers, sung across the Kurmancî lands.

Kerr û Kulik is a heroic destan of two brothers whose courage and fate have been sung across the Kurmancî-speaking lands for generations. Like the other great epics it exists as a family of sung episodes rather than a single text: each dengbêj shapes the brothers’ story, their feats and their deaths, according to his region and his audience. The epic belongs to the core narrative repertoire this archive documents, and its recorded versions by the master singers are among the treasures of the kilam tradition.
