Zazakî music
The music of the Zazakî language and the Dêrsim tradition.
Zazakî music is the song tradition of the Zazakî-speaking Kurds, with the Dêrsim region as its spiritual heartland. Its core is a sacred and lyrical repertoire: laments, hymns of the Alevi ritual world, and mountain songs carried for generations in a language that itself long fought for survival. After decades in the shadow of larger traditions, a revival led by artists such as Mikaîl Aslan and Ahmet Aslan has collected, rearranged and newly composed this repertoire, giving Zazakî music both an archive and a contemporary voice. On Kurdimusic it stands as a tradition in its own right within the wider Kurdish musical world.
