Halparke (helperkê) is the great dance family of Başûr and Rojhilat: line and circle dances in many named figures, each with its own rhythm, steps and songs, danced at every celebration from village weddings to city festivals. Where the Kurmancî-speaking regions say govend, the Soranî-speaking regions say halparke; the impulse, joined hands moving as one body, is the same.
