Kamkaran (The Kamkars)
The first family of Kurdish classical and folk music.

The Kamkars (Kamkaran) are the first family of Kurdish music from Rojhilat: an ensemble of siblings from Sine, raised in the house of the musician Hesen Kamkar, who turned family training into one of the region’s most respected professional ensembles. Their concerts and recordings set Kurdish folk melodies and their own compositions for a chamber orchestra of traditional instruments, played with conservatory precision. Touring internationally for decades, they have done as much as any single act to present Kurdish music as a concert tradition of the first rank.
