Îsa Berwarî, whose name carries the Berwarî region of Behdînan, is one of the defining voices of the Behdînî folk repertoire. Across a long career he has recorded the love songs, dance tunes and regional standards of the Behdînan mountains, becoming a fixture of celebrations and radio alike. Together with Tehsîn Taha and Erdewan Zaxoyî he forms the classic trio through which most listeners know the Behdînî sound, and his recordings remain core repertoire for singers from the region.
