Dengbêj Huseyno

Huseyno stands with Şakiro and Reso among the great pillars of the twentieth-century Serhed dengbêj school. His kilams, preserved on circulating tapes and now on streaming platforms, show the school’s virtues at their purest: long narrative breath, ornament in service of the story, and an unsentimental way with grief. Search interest in his name remains constant among dengbêj listeners, and his versions of the classic kilams are studied by every young singer entering the tradition.
