Agirê Jiyan is one of the defining Kurdish groups of the 1990s koma wave. Emerging from the same cultural-centre scene that reshaped Kurdish music in that decade, they combined choral singing, saz-driven arrangements and new songwriting; their song Adarê became one of the most widely sung Kurdish songs of its era and remains a fixture at gatherings every March. The group’s catalogue tracks the emotional register of its generation: longing, defiance and celebration in equal measure.
